Idiot's Guide to Learning Spanish
For those familiar with this series, this one is like all the others. It uses a chatty, sometimes humorous approach to discussing most of the important basics. If have read other "idiot" books and liked them, you will probably like this one as well.
1001 Pitfalls in Spanish
This is an excellent book that takes a different approach. Rather than tell you what you should do, it reminds you what you shouldn't do. The book systematically explores parts of speech, sentence structure and special areas, pointing out the most common areas where students make mistakes. Clear explanations and lots of examples make this a very useful addition to your learning library.

Expletive deleted! (NOT!) Let's face it, not all conversation is polite. This book will allow you to understand many common vulgarisms. Of course, we know you would never say any of the things you will find in these two books.
