Can't Hear the Sound?
Some oral activities on our website require the free Shockwave plug-in, while others require the free Flash plug-in. Many browsers come with these popular plug-ins already installed. If you do not already have these free plug-ins, you must get them before you will be able to hear the excellent audio featured on our website.
To get the Flash plug-in, please visit this page:

To get the Shockwave plug-in, please visit this page:

Remember, even after you download the plug-in, you may still need to install it.
Unfortunately, it is impossible for us to troubleshoot your particular system. I can tell you that if you have Shockwave and Flash properly installed, and your system is capable of delivering sound, you should be able to access our extensive audio library.
Please note that Shockwave and Flash are not our products, so please don't ask us to support them. For help with Shockwave and Flash, please contact Adobe: http://www.adobe.com/
If you have downloaded AND installed Shockwave and Flash, the next question is whether or not the Shockwave or Flash "movie" is playing. If you see changing words with buttons below them, the movie is playing, but the sound isn't getting to your speakers.
Try turning the volume up or plugging in the speakers.
If the Shockwave movies are not playing at all, and you are using IE Explorer as your browser, you might consider taking the following steps:
Tools-->Internet Options-->
Security Tab --> Custom Level --> Reset to "Medium"
Advanced Tab --> Restore Defaults
After you have made these adjustments, TURN YOUR COMPUTER OFF. Then, restart your computer and try again.
If you still have problems, we *strongly* suggest that you consider switching browsers and try out Firefox. A good short discussion of why and how to do this is located here:

If you have a Mac and are using Safari browser, and you cannot get the sound to work, consider the Firefox browser. See the above link for more information.
If you have one of the newer Macs with an Intel processor, there are special considerations:
Shockwave Player has not yet been ported to run natively on the new Intel-based Macintosh computers and currently only runs in Rosetta emulation mode. To install and use Shockwave Player on an Intel-based Macintosh, you will need to run the browser in Rosetta emulation mode. Follow the instructions below to launch your browser in Rosetta emulation mode.
Launching a Browser in Rosetta Emulation Mode
Applications like both Safari and Firefox default to running in native mode on the new Intel-based Macs and therefore you must follow a few simple steps to instead have then run in Rosetta emulation mode:
1. Quit out of the browser.
2. Go to your Applications folder and control-click on the browser application bundle.
3. In the context menu that appears select Get Info.
4. Under the General heading of the Info dialog select "Open using Rosetta".
5. Close the Info dialog box.
After completing the above steps the browser will now run in Rosetta emulation mode thus allowing you to install and use the Shockwave Player.
